Sec.  Mamondiong meets with stakeholders during the regional consultation and dialogue in Bicol

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director General Sec. Guiling A. Mamondiong along with DDG for TESD Operations Alvin S. Feliciano and DDG for Communities and LGUs Atty. Diosdado O. Padilla flew all the way from Manila to meet with the stakeholders in Bicol during the Consultation and Dialogue held at La Piazza Hotel, Tahao Road, Legazpi City last November 14, 2016.

Present in the event were the Local Government Units, Liga ng mga Barangay Presidents, public and private Technical Vocational Institution Heads, Presidents of State Universities and Colleges and officials from various National Government Agencies of which about 275 participants from the different offices and schools from the bicol region attended the said dialogue.

One of the highlights of the event was the open forum with Sec. Mamondiong where he announced that a total no. of 30,000 scholarship slots is allotted for the Bicol region starting from November 2016 until April 2017 with a corresponding budget of Php 150,000,000.00 which is the biggest amount alotted for the region alone.

 

The said scholarship budget is indeed a huge assistance to the provinces in Bicol especially in Sorsogon as it will be utilized to suffice the training needs of the province which targets underprivileged individuals and marginalized families who are in high need of skills training assistance.

More so, Sec. Mamondiong mentioned the three major concerns that the agency is currently prioritizing to urgently address such as issues on assessment fees, training costs and equipment for tech voc trainings. He added that the consultation is one of the agency's ways of responding to the needs of its clients and stakeholders.

 

The said consultation was conducted to provide opportunity for stakeholders to meet and dialogue with Sec. Mamondiong in addressing concerns on TESDA's programs, policies and services in pursuance to TESDA's 17-point reform and development agenda.
