TESDA, LGU Sorsogon embark on a manpower skills training for marginalized families

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority provincial office in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Sorsogon -Public Employment Service Office hooked up in boosting manpower skills among marginalized families of overseas Filipino workers through a 4-day skills training at TESDA Sorsogon Provincial Office last August 11-14, 2015
Driven by its mission to invest in a skilled workforce and catalyze a creation of livelihood enterprises by providing community based programs that cater workforce development such as training and skills enhancement, TESDA Sorsogon with the unwavering assistance and support of the local government unit of Sorsogon has come together in helping the poor and marginal groups in the city of Sorsogon.


About 83 beneficiaries from the different barangays in the city underwent skills training in food processing such as deep frying, frosting, puto and siopao making and bread making. During the 4-day course training, the trainees were equipped with skills through a comprehensive tutorial on food processing under the supervision of a qualified trainer.
The said beneficiaries were members of Pamilyang Migrante Orgulyo Kan Sorsogon (PAMOSO) under the Joint Migration and Development Initiative Bicol which intends to strengthen, upscale and mainstream migration and development at the local level through inclusive and sustainable programs that will minimized social cost and maximize gains of overseas migration.


The manpower skills training was one of collaborative efforts between TESDA Sorsogon and the local government unit of Sorsogon which aims to further technical vocational education and strengthen livelihood and employment opportunities among communities in the city of Sorsogon through skills enhancement and training.
