2016 Highlights of Accomplishments

The year 2016 has been a year of transition and setting new heights for Technical Education and Skills Development Authority with the agency at the helm of a new leadership under the newly appointed Director General Sec. Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong.

One of the major highpoints under the new administration was the Barangay Kasanayan Para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan as part of the agency’s 14-point agenda which aims to bring the agency’s services closer to the community of which the Provincial Office collaborated with 513 Barangays all over the province of Sorsogon to identify the skills requirements of each individual in every Barangay.

In view of that, the agency expanded and intensified its programs by bringing the skills training directly to the barangays and communities in support to its commitment of The year 2016 has been a year of transition and setting new heights for Technical Education and Skills Development Authority with the agency at the helm of a new leadership under the newly appointed Director General Sec. Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong. providing equal opportunities to the marginalized groups who have little access on formal training provisions.

As part of its provision of bridging skills gap in the Filipino workforce, the Provincial Office equipped barangay residents with marketable skills through skills training specifically in the agricultural sector which covers Raise Swine, Raise Poultry, Small Ruminants, Produce Organic Vegetables, Food Processing, to name a few. Furthermore, the Provincial Office endeavored in skills training for women and other marginalized groups as part of its commitment in generating livelihood enterprises by providing community based programs that cater workforce development such as training and skills enhancement in health, social and other community development services.

Moreover, TESDA Sorsogon Provincial Office has initiated and implemented anti-poverty programs and projects as well as integrate the moral values, peace and order and effects of drug trafficking in support to the mantra and advocacy of the President against illegal drugs and corruption. The provincial office was able to provide skills training to surrendered drug users in different municipalities in the province of Sorsogon in pursuit of the agency’s rigorous efforts in helping drug dependents/surrenderees get armed with skills and livelihood opportunity.

Aside from the new programs implemented this year, the agency was able to achieve note-worthy accomplishments on its TVET Operations and major programs. More so, the agency continued to strengthen its programs by inking new partnerships with stakeholders and enforcing new training programs in addressing skills gap and catalyzing employment towards poverty reduction.

​

Though faced with challenges, TESDA Sorsogon did not halt in striving for excellence as it stayed devoted to its pursuit of providing quality programs that seek to reinforce development of Filipino workforce towards a productive and world-class skilled workforce. Now more than ever, the provincial office has remained committed to its goals as it endeavors in continuously improving its services for the years to come.
